Welcome to HLG Consulting! My name is Holly, and I am a professional grant writer with a passion for helping organizations secure funding to make a positive impact in their communities.
Over the past 12 years, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients, including nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies. Through my work, I have helped to secure nearly a million dollars in funding for a variety of projects and initiatives.
My approach to grant writing is collaborative and detail-oriented. I work closely with my clients to understand their needs and goals, and to develop proposals that effectively communicate their vision and mission to potential funders. Whether you need assistance with research and proposal development, or simply require editing and review services, I am committed to providing personalized support that is tailored to your specific needs.
In addition to my professional experience, I hold a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies, an MA in Conflict Resolution and a BA in International Studies. I also have foreign language proficiency in Swedish (fluent), Spanish (advanced), and French (intermediate).

Meet Holly
After living abroad for 12 years (3 in New Zealand and 9 in Sweden), I recently moved back to my home city in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas in late 2022 and am thrilled to back in my home state closer to my family. While oversees, I had some amazing opportunities to explore the world both professionally and for fun, having lived, worked and traveled to over 20 countries. I have done field research in Chile, East Timor, Indonesia, Solomon Islands, and Taiwan where I had the opportunity to conduct over 100 in-depth interviews with diverse populations on the topic of justice and reconciliation after periods of mass violence and have disseminated the results of these studies through publications, presentations at over 15 international conferences, and invited talks in 5 countries.
I decided to leave the academic world in late 2020 to transition into doing work that was more practical and hands-on, which led me to take a position as the Project Manager of a startup initiative in Uppsala, Sweden designed to attract and retain international employees to the region.
After taking some time away from doing predominantly academic research, I realized how much I’ve missed research and writing, which led me to found HLG Consulting to help organizations achieve their goals through grant writing and research.
I have a particular interest in working with organizations that focus on social justice and/or human rights issues, but the sky is the limit when it comes to subject areas I can help your organization with.
